National Wood Carvers Association

NWCA aims to promote woodcarving and fellowship among its members, encourage exhibitions and area get-togethers, list tool and wood suppliers—in short, anything that aids the carver and/or whittler. 

Many distinguished professional woodcarvers in the U.S. and abroad share their know-how with fellow members. NWCA proudly lists several internationally famous authors of woodcarving books on its roster.

Bear

Dick Weber provided pictures of two versions of Christmas Bear ornaments that he carved for his daughter's restaurant -THE BEAR TRAP- in Riverside, Wyoming. Below the pictures is a pattern he provided for his bear Christmas ornaments.

Bell & Bow

Great Christmas Bell & Bow ornament.

Boot

Simple carving of a boot. You can make it more complex by adding adiitional details.

Dog

Another simple carving of a dog. You can add details to make it into any type of dog that you want.

Penguin

Here is a pattern and pictures of the holiday penguin designed by Wyatt Sample. You can make changes by putting the scarf on the other side, change the colors, put on a bow tie, change the hat. Try different things. Download the images by right clicking, and size the pattern for printing so that the penguin is 1.5 inches wide.

Soap

Soap carving can be as involved as you want it. It is very inexpensive to start as all it requires is a bar of soap and something that can dig or carve into the soap, so a pocket knife, exacto blade or even a popcycle stick. The set of patterns below are re-sized for the smaller bars of soap Ivory is now making.
